After successful optimization of trapping and imaging of individual bosonic 174Yb atoms we have now succeeded in trapping fermionic 173Yb atoms in triple (1S0, 3P0, 3P1) magic optical tweezers at 759nm using the magic angle for the polarization of the tweezer light.

Shortly after the 2D MOT we trap atoms again int the 3D MOT. We now use diagonal beams inclined by 59 degrees with only 8mm diameter - signififcantly steeper and  smalller than in our old setup.  We operate our 3D MOT exclusively on a broadened intercombination  1S0 -3P1 transition and achieve...
