Zentrum für Optische Quantentechnologien
Welcome to the Center for Optical Quantum Technologies
The Center for Optical Quantum Technologies (ZOQ) is part of the physics department of the University of Hamburg. Its mission is to perform basic research at the forefront of modern quantum science with the perspective to develop future quantum technologies.
Research areas range from quantum optics and ultracold quantum matter to the control of the dynamics of quantum many-body problems. The Center combines cutting-edge research in theory and experiment dedicated to discover and design novel states of quantum matter.
ZOQ hosts every year a substantial number of internationally leading experts in the framework of an extensive scientific visitor and guest programme as well as the local colloquia and seminars. Workshops and collaborative meetings on highly topical themes of quantum physics add to a stimulating and exciting work atmosphere.
A research based education and training of doctoral and master students as well as young academics is a particular concern of the mission of ZOQ.
Research groups at ZOQ represent an integral part of the local collaborative research centers including the Sonderforschungsbereich 925 and 668, the graduate school 1355 and the excellence cluster„The Hamburg Center for Ultrafast Imaging (CUI)“ of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
