Scientific profile
At the Institute of Quantum Physics (IQP) five experimental and three theoretical research groups are working on investigating and using the peculiarities of quantum mechanics of light and matter. Research focuses on the investigation of ultracold quantum gases and highly correlated matter as well as laser development for squeezed and entangled light, gravitational wave detection and quantum optics. For all topics we offer lectures in the context of physics studies at the University of Hamburg.
The IQP is part of the Cluster of Excellence „Advanced Imaging of Matter“ (AIM) and „Quantum Universe“ (QU) and the Collaborative Research area 925 „Light-Induced Dynamics and Control of Correlated Quantum Systems“.
