Dr. Yann Kiefer

Yann studied physics at the University of Hamburg and the École Normale Supérieure. His research interests include analogue quantum simulation with ultracold atoms in optical lattices, few- and many-body phenomena in confined geometries and the importance of orbital degrees of freedom in quantum systems. In his PhD project, he worked on a dual species apparatus and realised a novel state of matter with the successful excitation of cold Feshbach molecules to the second Bloch band of an optical square lattice.
