Optical sensitivities of current gravitational wave observatories at higher kHz, MHz and GHz frequencies

Current gravitational wave observatories could also measure signals at MHz and GHz frequencies.

We have calculated the sensitivity of operational GW observatories to speculative high-frequency GW signals and conclude that high optical sensitivity is present even at GHz frequencies. For researchers outside the GW community, our result is surprising.

The benefits of newly developed complementary high-frequency detectors must therefore be reconsidered.
