Meet the Physics Department Management
The Physics Department Management (FBM) advises the Department Leadership on all departmental tasks and responsibilities, particularly matters of resource governance and strategic planning.
As the department's central service unit, it is responsible for:
- Resource Management – Budget & Finance
- Resource Management – Personnel & Positions
- Resource Management – Space & Facilities
as well as:
- Structural and Appointment Affairs
- Quality Management
- Liaison Communication
It supports all members and affiliates of the department on all matters relating to personnel and positions, as well as finance and infrastructure.
The Department Management is headed by the Department Manager, who serves as a member of the Department Leadership team, supported by the Resource Manager for Budget & Finance and the Resource Manager for Personnel & Positions, who act as liaisons to the MIN Dean's Office and the University Central Administration.
Two administrative staff members form the front-office team at the Bahrenfeld and Bergedorf campuses, serving as a first point of contact for colleagues' concerns. Together with the Resource Management team, they support members of the physics institutes with training and documentation in the areas of employment, use of funds, and procurement.
The department's driver, Thomas Lichthardt, is responsible for mail and goods exchange between the University's central mailroom and the physics institutes and central service facilities across the three locations.
