PIER Seed Projects 2021 – call for applications now open!

PIER Seed Projects promote innovative research ideas in the PIER research fields particle & astroparticle physics, nanoscience, photon science, infection & structural biology, accelerator research and theoretical physics. New this year is also the inclusion of data science into the list of research fields eligible for PIER funding.

We are pleased to inform you that the PIER Seed Projects call 2021 is now open.

The funding program is particularly aimed at qualified early-career scientists. It provides rapid and non-bureaucratic seed funding for the identification, initiation, development, testing and implementation of completely new research ideas, concepts or methods. Funding will focus on creative ideas, lateral thinking as well as risky research ideas with possibly high potential benefits. Projects must involve researchers from both DESY and Universität Hamburg (UHH) / University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).

Deadline for applications is 24 March 2021.
