Pre-Course in Mathematics
The Mathematical Preparatory Course at the Department of Physics takes place before the beginning of each semester, in March for the summer semester and in September/October for the winter semester. It is aimed at first-semester students of the bachelor's programs in physics, nanosciences, meteorology, geophysics/oceanography as well as teacher training programs with physics as a teaching subject and students with a minor in physics. The preparatory course is designed to review higher level mathematics in preparation for physics lectures, particularly with respect to the topics of functions, differential and integral calculus, complex numbers, and vector calculus.
No registration is required to take the Mathematical Preparatory Course. The course consists of lectures, which take place weekdays from 9:00 to 10:30 in Lecture Hall I (Wolfgang-Pauli-Hörsaal), Jungiusstraße 9, and guided tutorials to work on mathematics problems. The exercise groups are supervised by student tutors. During the first lecture, the students will also be assigned to their exercise groups.
