About NaNaX
History of Nanoscience with Nanocrystals international conference series: NaNaX was established in Munich, Germany 2003 and it was organized by Jochen Feldmann, Hermann Gaub, Wolfgang Parak, and Andrey Rogach. The success of this first event was the motivation to continue with NaNaX 2, which was held in Grenoble, France 2006 and it was organized by Peter Reiss and Andrey Rogach. NaNaX 3 took place in Lecce, Italy 2008 and it was organized by Roman Krahne, Liberato Manna, and Wolfgang Parak. During this time it became apparent that the NanaX series was a very successful and popular event, which we were obliged to continue and evolve and it was also decided that this event should happen every two years. Thus, NaNaX 4 was held in Munich, Germany for one more time in 2010 and it was organized by Jochen Feldmann, Peter Reiss, and Andrey Rogach. NaNaX5 was organized in Malaga, Spain 2012 by Jesus de la Fuente, Luis Liz Marzan and Wolfgang Parak. NaNaX 6 took place in Bad Hofgastein, Austria 2014 and it was hosted by Wolfgang Heiss, Maksym Kovalenko, Peter Reiss and Andrey Rogach. In 2016 NaNaX 7 was organized in Marburg, a typical small town of Germany established back in 1140. It is worth to mention that Marburg is the seat of the oldest protestant-founded university in the world. The University of Marburg was founded back in 1527. The conference organizers were Ramon Alvarez Puebla, Antonis Kanaras, Victor Punktes, and Wolfgang Parak. NaNaX 8 took place 2017 in Braga, Portugal, organized by Andrey Rogach, Mikhail Vasilevskiy, and Peter Reiss. NaNaX 9 was 2019 in Hamburg, Germany, organized by Neus Feliu, Alf Mews, Wolfgang Parak, and Horst Weller. NaNaX 10 was held 2023 in Klosterneuburg, Austria, organized by Maria Ibanez, Maksym Kovalenko, Peter Reiss, and Andrey Rogach (http://nanax.org/).
Welcome to NaNaX 11
Welcome to NaNaX 11
Dear Participants,
Dear colleagues. We welcome you here in Lecce for the 11th event of the Nanoscience with Nanocrystals international conference series. We hope that your time here will be both useful and entertaining. Let us introduce you briefly to NaNaX 11.
Nanoscience deals with phenomena and properties that are characteristic of the nanosize regime. These may range from quantum size effects in semiconductors to localized surface plasmons or Coulomb blockade in metals, through a whole variety of exciting new effects that are characteristic of nanoscale materials.
Nanocrystals are employed in several fields of science ranging from biology and medicine and the development of new diagnostic methods, drug delivery, and imaging, to physics and engineering and the fabrication of novel devices for energy conversion and storage. The major reason for the vast range of applications of colloidal nanocrystals is the ability to easily tune the density of their electronic states, which allows the control of their magnetic, optical, electrical, catalytic and mechanical properties, characteristic for different materials. The control over the properties of these nanocrystals can be achieved by chemically adjusting their size, shape, and composition as well as by carefully selecting the organic molecules to coat their surface.
NaNaX 11 is the eleventh international conference which will focus on the presentation and discussion of the latest research related to nanocrystals and their applications. Topics will include the synthesis of nanocrystals, the observation of novel phenomena deriving from exotic types of nanocrystals, the assembly of nanocrystal building blocks to form larger materials with peculiar properties, as well as applications arising from advanced and functional nanostructures in various scientific fields.

Satellite Meeting DELIGHT
Satellite Meeting DELIGHT

NaNaX 11 will include as satellight meeting a symposium "From experiments to the product invention" organized by the EU-funded project Delight .
DELIGHT is a project for scientific exchange of researchers between leading academic institutions in Europe, United States of America, Canada and Argentina funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) in the Horizon Europe framework programme of the European Union. The scope is to stimulate long-term scientific exchange between different sectors and countries, giving young scientists the opportunity to broaden their horizon in long term stays at host labs, contributing to an interdisciplinary and international education.
Invited speakers will include
Luis Liz Marzan
Liberato Manna
Teresa Pellegrino

Conference Location & Accommodation
Location
The NaNaX 11 Conference will take place in two nearby locations in the vicinity of the historical centre of the city of Lecce.
1. Studium 2000, a modern space in the University of Salento main campus
- Studium 2000 – Building 6, room 7: talks sessions

- Studium 2000 – Building 5, ground floor: poster sessions coffee breaks

2. Monastero degli Olivetani, a monastic complex in the city of Lecce. Its foundation dates back to the end of the 12th century by Tancredi d'Altavilla. It is currently the seat of the Department of Historical Studies of the University of Salento. The monastery, located near the municipal cemetery, next to the church of Saints Niccolò and Cataldo, was most likely built between 1171 and 1174 for the Order of Black Benedictines. In 1985 the building was entrusted to the University of Lecce, which restored it and made it a cultural centre. Of particular historical significance are the traces of frescoes depicting episodes of monastic life. More info.
– Chiostro: lunch breaks.
