The non-equilibrium spin dynamics of artificial arrays of atoms coupled to electrons at the surfaces of solid state materials, spanning metallic systems, topological surface states, BCS superconductors and charge density wave systems, will be experimentally studied using time- and spin-resolved scanning tunneling micro/spectroscopy. In close collaboration with the theory project B5 and the experimental projects B2, B3, we will investigate how to tailor the effects of electron pairing and topological states on the dynamics, and synergize our results with the exploration of molecular and quantum gas systems in A4, A6, C1, C3, C4.
