Dynamics of strongly correlated degrees of freedom in model systems
Michael Potthoff
New theoretical ideas and modern computational techniques are used to calculate the real-time dynamics of systems of strongly interacting electrons and spins far from thermal equilibrium. In close collaboration with the experimental projects B9 and B2, B3, we study the role of strong correlations, of spontaneous symmetry breaking, and of topological protection in non-equilibrium processes on the atomic scale, search for means to steer these processes and predict novel collective phenomena.
