Welcome to Hamburg Observatory!
Hamburg Observatory was founded in 1833 and has been part of Hamburg University since 1968.
The building ensemble on top of the Gojenberg in Bergedorf was built from 1906 to 1912. It is largely preserved in its original state and was placed under protection as a historical monument in 1996.
Unique, technically and historically significant telescopes and astronomical instruments constructed between 1867 and present day are hosted in these buildings.
At the same time, internationally recognised research in astronomy is carried out here.
The park is open to the public during the day. These information panels will lead you from building to building, providing information on past and current astronomical research at the observatory.
