Celebration of the new astronomy tour with a picnic concert

The new signboard tour in the park of the Observatory was celebrated with a little concert on the roof of the 1m-reflector building. Visitors enjoyed the sounds of Mozart arias.

In beautiful summer weather, nearly 100 visitors listened to the voices of Lucie Frontière (soprano) und Francois Joron (baritone) while picnicking in the park of Hamburg Observatory. Accompanied by Irina Kolesnikova on the piano, the two solists interpreted popular arias and duets from Mozart operas.

On the occasion, many visitors followed the signboard tour through the park. Our new signboards show information about topics and methods of current astrophysical research, historical instruments, and the history of Hamburg Observatory. English versions can be easily viewed on the web by scanning QR codes.

Our tour gives the public a glimpse inside the Observatory even under the pandemic restrictions that are currently in effect. The park is opened everyday from 7 am till 10 pm.
