We, the Light-Induced Reaction Dynamics Group, are looking forward to work with enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated scientists with a solid background in chemistry or physics interested in ultrafast science of molecular systems. Our research at the interface between physics and chemistry focusses on molecular systems relevant to chemistry and materials science.
We investigate photochemical reaction dynamics in the condensed phase using a suite of modern ultrafast pump-probe methods. One focus is on ultrafast x-ray techniques, which allow us to track molecular dynamics on femtosecond time-scales and this with atomic resolution and the specificity of core-level transitions. The experiments are complemented by studies using ultrafast UV-VIS spectroscopy methods utilizing femtosecond lasers.
Our group uses the chemistry and the laser (collaboration with the FXE group) laboratories at European XFEL and various x-ray sources world-wide, e.g. European XFEL and PETRA III at DESY in Hamburg, the Advanced Photon Source in the Chicago area, the Linac Coherent Light Source in Stanford, the SALCA Free-Electron Laser in the Himeji area, and other existing and emerging x-ray sources.
If we raised your interest to work with us, go ahead and contact Katharina Kubicek (katharina.kubicek@uni-hamburg.de) for questions and more detailed information.
