LIGHT-INDUCED REACTION DYNAMICS
Dr. Katharina Kubicek
The Light-Induced Reaction Dynamics Project Group studies ultrafast processes triggered by photo-absorption in the condensed phase while utilizing a wide range of complementary, time-resolved, state-of-the-art techniques. A main objective is to understand, with the goal to control, the electronic excited state dynamics of the target molecules, nanostructures and solid-state materials relevant to solar energy, photocatalysis and photoswitching applications. A focus is on ultrafast x-ray studies investigating the dynamics on femtosecond time and Ångström length scales with atomic specificity.
The work of the group in this fascinating and fast-developing field is complemented by optical spectroscopy experiments with femtosecond lasers to enhance our knowledge about transient states and the functionality of matter.
