We currently have an open PhD position with the Quantum Universe cluster of excellence. The research focus will be anomaly-based strategies to search for new model-independent searches for new particles in proton-proton collision data recorded at the CMS experiment. We constantly offer Bachelor and Master thesis projects. Contact me via email (gregor.kasieczka"AT"uni-hamburg.de) to discuss possible topics.
Some programming knowledge is recommended, experience with Python, machine learning environments (PyTorch/Keras/TensorFlow/sklearn/TMVA/...), or data analysis software (ROOT/numpy/scipy) is useful but not necessary.
