At the CERN cryolab, the MADMAX team just completed successfully the first cooling test of a tiled disk, i.e. multiple smaller hexagons glued together to form a single, very flat disk . The disk is still intact after cooling down to 22K (that's about -250°C!) and the subsequent warm-up.
Another cool step forward: during the same test campaign, they also performed the three-motor-movement and laser-positioning of another disk at cryogenic temperatures.
