A robot for the future

It's alive! Well, not really, but it began to move: the robot arm in our CMS lab took up operation and is currently being comissioned.

Our group is responsible for the assembly of 500 modules for the CMS Inner Tracker Upgrade, and rather than doing everything by hand, we will let this robot arm do part of the work for us. Tests on first prototypes will begin next year.

First testbeam of the year

Last week we had our first testbeam of the year. This time, we took data in area T24 of the DESY II test beam facility to test Low Gain Avalanch Diodes (LGADs) at different voltages and under different beam incidence angles.
