Dynamix – Femtosecond X-ray physics
Prof. Dr. Markus Drescher
We study ultrafast dynamics of atoms, molecules and surfaces via exciting and probing with ultrashort light pulses ranging from the far infrared to X-ray wavelengths. Using pump-probe methods, the temporal resolution is superior to any electronic detector.
Extremely fast processes evolving within picoseconds (1 ps = 10-12 s), femtoseconds (1 fs = 10-15 s) and even attoseconds (1 as = 10-18 s) can be followed.
