Nico investigated the intracellular lyso/endosomal escape process and ensuing diffusion of fluorophores from controlled opening of poly-electrolyte capsules, which was mediated via photothermal uncaging during his master thesis in the Group of Wolfgang Parak. His upcoming project will focus on on-chip DNA extraction as a preparation for the DNA read out. His hobbies entail cycling, video games, bouldering, fitness, anime, playing piano and cooking.
