Simulations of radiation transfer are among the computationally most challenging problems. We develop new numerical methods for radiation transfer to compute, for example, in the early phases of protostellar discs.
The origin of magnetic fields in the Universe is a long standing problem. There are various theories about the generation of magnetic fields in the early Universe, which were later amplified by magnetic dynamo processes.
Dynamics of Extrasolar Planets around Massive Stars and Binary Stars
Some of the extrasolar planets that have been discovered over the last years were found in binary star systems, i.e. two stars orbiting each other. Among them are planets around binaries within a common gas envelope. We study such planets in numerical simulations.
